“Portals” opens at the Friesen Galleries

January 11, 2018

The Northwest Nazarene University Friesen Galleries is hosting an exhibition of large landscape paintings by Boise artist Rachel Teannalach. The exhibit, entitled Portals, is comprised of 14 panoramic landscapes featuring iconic geographic scenes found within 150 miles of Boise.

“...the feeling of walking through a portal into one of Idaho’s beautiful landscapes,”
“The proportions and scale of the paintings are intended to give the viewer the feeling of walking through a portal into one of Idaho’s beautiful landscapes,” said Teannalach. “This body of work is inspired by the Piazzoni murals at the de Young Museum in San Francisco, which depict the Northern California hills and coast. I felt the same tribute should be given to our region.”

A reception to open the show will be held Tuesday, January 16 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Brandt Center on the NNU campus. The show will run December 16 through March 16 in the Friesen Galleries located on the upper level of the NNU Brandt Center at 707 Fern St. in Nampa. Gallery hours are Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. or by appointment.

All events are free and open to the public. For more information, contact Professor Mike Bartlett at (208) 467-8259 or follow Friesen Galleries NNU ART on Facebook.
