NNU Granted PRSSA Charter
Northwest Nazarene University’s Department of Communication Arts and Science is excited to announce that it has been granted a charter to begin a chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA). PRSSA is the foremost organization for university-level students interested in the fields of public relations and communication.
PRSSA helps students develop the skills and competencies they need to thrive as future professionals. It provides hands-on training and education through conferences, workshops, webinars, competitions and networking events and connects students to internships and scholarships reserved for PRSSA members.
According to Stephanie Tomlinson, one of the faculty advisers, “Having a PRSSA chapter at NNU offers significant value to our students. It gives them access to multiple resources and relationships that will enhance their educational experience now while simultaneously opening doors to their future.”
NNU’s charter chapter is comprised of 15 students, 2 faculty advisers--including Brooke Adamson and Tomlinson--and 2 professional advisers who are PRSA-Idaho members and public relations professionals. It is only the second chapter to be granted a charter in the state of Idaho.
According to Kelly Sasso, Idaho Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) chapter board president, “We are thrilled to welcome the new Northwest Nazarene University’s student chapter of PRSSA in to our ranks of communications professionals. NNU’s PRSSA members will benefit from learning more about the core values and ethical standards we adhere to as public relations practitioners, and have the opportunity to develop and hone their communication skills as they network and interact with our PRSA members in organizations and institutions throughout the community.”
The group meets twice and month and is open to all students who want to improve their communication skills. For more information about becoming part of PRSSA, contact Stephanie Tomlinson (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Brooke Adamson (email@example.com).
