Join us for Homecoming & Family Weekend 2016
Northwest Nazarene University is gearing up for Homecoming & Family Weekend which will take place November 10–12, 2016. Alumni, family and community members are invited to partake in the homecoming festivities while reuniting with old friends and making new ones.
Special events for this year’s Homecoming & Family Weekend include events to honor Crusader Baseball and veterans. Prior to the men’s basketball game on Friday, a reception for all baseball alumni will be held in the upstairs lobby of Johnson Sports Center at 6 p.m. followed by recognition of baseball alumni and the 2016 GNAC Championship team during half time of the game. Saturday brings an alumni baseball game at 1 p.m., which will be followed by a BBQ for baseball alumni, family and friends.
Events to celebrate and honor veterans begin on Friday with a veterans breakfast in the north gallery of the Brandt Center at 8 a.m. hosted by the NNU Student Veterans Club, NNU Chapter of Student Veterans of America, and Team Red, White, and Blue. Later, a Veterans Day Ceremony will be held in the Brandt Center at 11:30 a.m., and a veterans panel discussion will be held in the Veterans Service Center at 2 p.m. Concluding the veterans events is a reception in the Ferdinand Suite overlooking the gymnasium floor during the men’s basketball game.
In addition to these reunions, plan to join us for several of the other special events. There are five opportunities throughout the weekend to see the 2016 homecoming play, “The M.R.S. Degree. A Musical. Kinda.” Written and directed by NNU’s own Dr. Arnold Ytreeide, this romantic comedy will have you laughing from the opening scene.
Gather with NNU Crusader fans past and present during the men’s basketball game Friday night at 8 p.m. Come early for the Food Truck Rally beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Wrap up the weekend by listening to the talent of the NNU Department of Music on Saturday night. The concert will feature performances from NNU’s top ensembles including Bella Voce, Jazz Revival, Concert Band, Northwesterners and Crusader Choir & Orchestra.
