School of theology hosts panel on women’s ordination
During Homecoming & Family Weekend 2016, NNU’s School of Theology and Christian Ministries will host a panel discussion entitled “Celebrating our Heritage: Women’s Ordination in the Church of the Nazarene.” Held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 11 in the auditorium of the Emerson Administration Building, this event is free and open to the public.
The Church of the Nazarene has always ordained women, as have most holiness denominations. What is it about the Holiness movement and its theology that has fostered such a strong understanding of the equality of all women (not just pastors)? As the Church has sought to renew its holiness message for the 21st century, is it coincidental that women are entering the ministry at record numbers? Come hear panelists discuss our heritage on this point, which is indeed a cause for celebration.
The panel will include President of Nazarene Theological Seminary Dr. Carla Sunberg along with faculty members and other guests.
Following the panel, the Wesley Center will host a time of refreshments and fellowship.
