Mangum Mission Series coming November 2 – 4

October 26, 2016

NNU invites the community to attend the Mangum Mission Series during which Rev. Vito (’01) and Jenni McPherson (’01) Monteblanco, executive directors of Cactus Nazarene Ministry Center, will share about their ministry to refugees. The series will take place in the NNU Brandt Center on Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 10:10 a.m. and Friday, Nov. 4, at 10:10 a.m.

"We are hoping that through the life and words of the Monteblancos, our students will be challenged to reconsider what missions work looks like.”
Cactus Nazarene Ministry Center (CNMC) is a compassionate ministries center located in the diverse Texas Panhandle town of Cactus. CNMC serves over 20 nationalities and ethnicities represented in Cactus and surrounding areas (primarily immigrants and refugees from Central America, Myanmar, and Africa) through English classes, legal assistance, health clinics, sports ministries, after-school programming, family services and more.

"We are hoping that through the life and words of the Monteblancos, our students will be challenged to reconsider what missions work looks like. We know God is still calling people to be career missionaries around the globe, but we also need to consider what it means that the world is coming to us—that the mission field is in our own backyard,” commented NNU Chaplain Dustin Metcalf.

While on campus, the Monteblancos will speak in chapel, classes and with local pastors about reaching out to the refugee populations all around us. They believe the mission field is coming to us, and we need to be prepared.
