Financial Aid and Admissions Offices host FAFSA Night
On Monday evening, October 24, high school seniors, transfer students, and their parents are invited to file their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2017 school year at a free event hosted by Northwest Nazarene University. Experienced staff from NNU’s Financial Aid and Admissions Offices will be present to assist in the FAFSA submission process which has undergone federal changes.
The most prominent changes are, starting with the 2017-18 FAFSA, students may file earlier and with earlier income information.
Students have been able to submit their 2017–18 FAFSA since Oct. 1, 2016, rather than Jan. 1, 2017. The earlier submission date is a permanent change, enabling students to complete and submit a FAFSA as early as Oct. 1 every year. Because of the earlier submission date, students are required to report income information from an earlier tax year. For example, students (and parents, as appropriate) must report their 2015 income information, rather than their 2016 income information.
The FAFSA submission process can often be overwhelming, and NNU staff hope this event can simplify that and provide a convenient way to answer questions.
