NNU will honor Dr. Phyllis Perkins Howard with the Wesley Order of Servant Leaders Award during General Assembly in Indianapolis, Indiana. The award is presented to individuals whose life and accomplishments reflect the spirit and practice of servant leadership, which was modeled by Jesus Christ and mirrored in the life of John Wesley.
Dr. Edwin “Ed” Robinson, NNU alumnus and senior fellow, passed away unexpectedly Saturday night. A memorial service will be held on June 10 at College Church of the Nazarene in Nampa. “Dr. Ed Robinson modeled what servant leadership looks like,” shared NNU President Joel Pearsall, “and as a result he touched thousands of lives.”
NNU is pleased to announce the hiring of Dr. S. Bradley Shaw as vice president for academic affairs and Mr. Mark Wheeler as vice president for external affairs. “NNU is fortunate that Dr. Shaw and Mr. Wheeler have agreed to fill these vice president roles. Each brings significant experience and training to these roles and we look forward to their leadership among us,” shared President Joel Pearsall.
Tuesday, NNU honored Randy Schild with the 2017 L.E. Wesche Outstanding Educator of the Year award. The award is given each year to an alumnus who has provided distinguished service in the field of education. A native of Tillamook, Oregon, Schild has served as superintendent for the Tillamook School District since 2001.
NNU’s Crusader Choir & Orchestra will present “Great Hymns of Our Faith” on April 23 at 7 p.m. in the NNU Brandt Center. The concert will feature inspiring hymn performances from the 100-member Crusader Choir & Orchestra, creative piano arrangements from NNU alumnus Jerry Nelson, and a hymn sing-along from the fresh new hymnal release, “One Voice,” led by Nelson and guest artist Johnny Hall.
